We’ve been quiet over the summer, but it’s not because we’ve been taking it easy! We just had to freeze our website while it was in the process of being redesigned and moved to a new server.

Meanwhile, updates to both the SilverLining Sky, 3D Cloud, and Weather SDK and Triton Ocean SDK have been released at their usual brisk pace. Here are some of the highlights of what’s new so far this summer:

  • More performance optimizations in SilverLining – we found that star and planet positions were getting updated every frame unnecessarily; fixing this should lead to better-performing nighttime scenes for you.
  • Better multi-view support with Triton – Triton now has the ability to use CUDA acceleration on more than one graphics context! This means the previous limitation of only being able to accelerate the water on as many windows as you have GPU’s is finally a thing of the past. And even better – rendering different views from different threads works now as well. For customers driving multiple projectors from single PC’s, or developing virtual reality systems, this is huge.
  • Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 Support – Our libraries for Visual Studio 2015 are now linked against Update 3, and our SDK installs the corresponding runtime libraries on your system. Be sure you too have updated your compiler and the runtimes you distribute.
  • Swap chain resizing works with SilverLining and DirectX11 – We fixed a reference leak that means you can properly handle window resizes in DirectX 11 when using SilverLining.

There are several smaller bug fixes and tweaks as well; refer to the release notes included with our SDK’s or linked to from our evaluation SDK download page for complete details. As always, licensed customers can obtain updated SDK’s with source code via our download portal.
